Heavy Lift Planning and Execution
At the request of Shell Offshore, Inc. (Shell), we completed the heavy lift and integration of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and structural deck system for the Stones project. The scope of work included the following:
Heavy lift of the VFD from an oceangoing vessel onto dockside load spreaders.
Heavy lift of the structural deck system from a barge onto dockside load spreaders.
Welding fabrication in accordance with AWS D1.1 to modify the structural deck system to accept the VFD.
NDE of welds in accordance with customer requirements.
Heavy lift of the VFD from dockside load spreaders onto the structural deck system.
Heavy lift of the integrated VFD / structural deck system from dockside load spreaders onto a barge.
